ππΌ Welcome to SwiftlyRush
Better days are coming. πΌ
It's the track of the week and one I have on repeat. The artist is Dermot Kennedy, an Irish singer with a beautiful voice; the lyrics are inspiring, and I think they resonate with January and what we're seeing across the world.
I hope you all had an amazing festive break with loved ones, for me, unfortunately I was poorly for 2 weeks. I somehow managed to catch the bug that was spreading across the UK, maybe in other countries too?! I had a strange cough and high temperature, but I was able to shake it off just before Christmas ππΌ
In other news, we have started planning our annual conference SwiftLeeds; believe me, it's going to be our biggest year yet. The theme for this year is incredibly fun and playful, and we'll be revealing more next week.
We might also have just confirmed our dates π!
Have a great week ahead π«ΆπΌ

How to write Unit Tests for Code Performance β±οΈ by Vincent Pradeilles
I don't often link to videos but Vincent is the king of recording incredibly easy to digest videos and this one is no different. Code performance in my opinion is overlooked and I think we can all learn a little something from doing this.
Adapting your App Icon to visionOS by Flora Damiano
It's coming in the US for now, but the Vision Pro is being shipped very soon. Apple made an announcement on this last week. We're starting to see some incredible content in the community, and I particularly loved this one covering visionOS App Icons.
Modernish UserDefaults Wrapper by Edvinas Byla
Are you using UserDefaults much? I mean, it has it's purpose for sure, storing user preferences or similar. It's definitely a very valid persistence storage to use within your apps. Well, you can use Combine and this article is going to show you how to do that very nicely.
Strategic Planning in Engineering Teams by Phil Yates
This is a slightly different article I would usually link to, but I particularly love reading these articles because they're completely subjective to the individual. I find this reason very interesting. You'll always learn something different from these articles, and I found this particular one by Phil interesting.
SwiftUI + Combine = β€οΈ by Peter Friese
SwiftUI and Combine are always an incredible combination.. see what I did there ;]! However, Peter is good at going into great detail and showing good examples in practice. Despite your level with both of these, you're bound to learn something new.
π‘ And Finally...
Did you see this article about how many Vision Pro headsets will be produced in the first batch? I found it interesting as well. π«£
